The Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area (DWGNRA), managed by the National Park Service, includes 70,000 acres of public land open for hunting.  Whitetail Deer are the most popular game in the DWGNRA, with many large bucks taken every season.  Wild Turkey are taken throughout the park, but are most numerous in the fields and scrub of the Delaware River flood plains.  Pike County, PA has one of the largest Black Bear populations in the state, and several record Black Bear have been taken in the creek gorges of the DWGNRA.  Waterfowl are abundant on and around the Delaware River, where duck and goose are the preferred game.

Dingmans Campground is located right in the center of the DWGNRA, offering the hunter quick and easy access to the surrounding fields and forest.  Dingmans Campgrounds features 17 spacious campsites on the Pennsylvania bank of the Delaware River, and over 100 forest and meadow campsites.  Hunters can launch their boats at the nearby Dingmans Access (fees apply).

•         Whitetail Deer
•         Black Bear
•         Wild Turkey

Important Notes for Hunters in the DWGNRA:

Please note that the DWGNRA includes lands in NJ and PA, and the individual State•s hunting and boating laws apply within that state•s boundaries.  Any powered watercraft on the Delaware River must have a current registration from either state to operate on the river.  There is privately owned land within the DWGNRA, so respect posted private property signs.  In addition, there are numerous safe zones within the park, around the areas with heavy visitor traffic (waterfalls, visitor centers, river access points).

Please remember that the areas of the DWGNRA open to hunting are intended for multiple public uses.  You may encounter hikers, paddlers, rock climbers, park rangers or others who are not hunters and may not be displaying hunting safety orange on their persons.  Also, while camping at Dingmans Campground, your hunting weapons must be stored safely in your vehicles when not in use.  Please review our campground policies:
